Healincomfort Receives Women’s Business Enterprise National Council Certification

Healincomfort® is pleased to announce it has been granted Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) certification by the Women’s Business Council – Southwest Certification Committee.

WBENC certification provides the most widely recognized and respected certification in the United States for women’s business enterprises (WBE). This certification will enable healincomfort to connect with over 700 major corporations, non-profit organizations, as well as many local, state, and Federal government agencies.  WBENC certification is an important marketing tool for expanding visibility among, and access to, decision makers in supplier diversity and procurement offices. Many corporations require WBENC-certification before providing access to their supplier diversity programs. WBCS also screens applicants for certification with the State of Texas as a Historically Underutilized Business (HUB). So, eligible businesses can receive both certifications through the WBCS in one application process.  For more informaiton, visit http://www.wbcsouthwest.org/.

About Healincomfort

Founded in 2008 by breast cancer survivor, Cherie B. Mathews, healincomfort.com was established to help women heal in comfort and dignity after surgery and their battle against breast cancer. Inspired by her own post-operative experience — not being provided with the right equipment to go home in — Cherie designed a super- soft, moisture-management material shirt (patent pending) to keep the patient dry and comfortable. To date, 400 healincomfort shirts have been manufactured in the USA and gifted to Breast Cancer Centers across Texas to provide for local women. Healincomfort’s mission is to ensure that every woman is sent home with the proper equipment to heal in comfort in dignity after surgery, and encourges families, firends and local companies to get involved in the the “Gift a Shirt” program to provide Austin breast cancer patients with healincomfort shirts for same price as flowers ($45).  Healincomfort was also awarded the austinwoman Magazine 2010 Small Business Grant, and a VIP Award by Cambridge Who’s Who for dedication, leadership and excellence in business management.   Visit www.healincomfort.com today and help us make a difference.

Cherie B. Mathews Honored by Cambridge “Who’s Who” for Dedication and Business Leadership

AUSTIN, TX, January 18, 2011 — Cherie B. Mathews, Owner of Healincomfort.com® has been recognized by Cambridge Who’s Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in business management.

Healincomfort.com LLC is a specialty medical clothing manufacturer that designs and sells post-operative shirts for women battling breast cancer.  The patent-pending shirts are made with super-soft, moisture-management material to keep the patient dry and comfortable, internal pockets to provide a place for the patient’s drains, and easy to use velcro-like fasteners to allow dressing with minimal effort.

Ms. Mathews established the company two years ago after recognizing a need for the products based on her own post-operative experience — not being provided with the right equipment to go home in.  To date, more than 400 healincomfort shirts were manufactured in the USA and gifted to Breast Cancer Centers across Texas to provide for local women battleing breast cancer including; St. David’s Medical Center, Conroe Regional Medical Center, M.D. Anderson, Texas Oncology, Houston Medical Center , Lester & Sue Smith Center, and Memorial Hermann.

Healincomfort prides themselves on being a socially responsible company.

In 2010, she was also honored as the Small Business Entrepreneur of the Year by austinwoman Magazine, and awarded a business grant from the publication.  She was also a 2010 finalist for the Austin eWomenNetwork Fearless Woman award.  In addition to handling the day-to-day operations of her business, she is a National Trainer for The First Tee National School Program, as well as Director of Charitable Events for breast cancer, such as “The Support Crew Ride“ and “Fight Like a Girl Party“ which she founded as an avenue for raising money for healincomfort shirts to give back to her community in Austin Texas.

Ms. Mathews has a degree in Computer Engineering Technology, and worked for IBM in Research and Development for eight years.  Her affiliations include the Texas Women in Business, the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council and the General Federation of Woman’s Clubs.   Ms. Mathews mission is to ensure every woman is sent home with a healincomfort shirt after surgery so they may heal in comfort and dignity while battling breast cancer.  She attributes her success to her perseverance, and looks forward to making healincomfort shirts the industry standard for Breast Cancer Centers around the globe.

3rd Annual Support Crew Ride 2010

Support Crew Bracelet finds friends with Fire Fighters

Hey Cherie,

It was great meeting you last week at the High Heel Happy Hour!  I had my mammogram yesterday and proudly wore my Support Crew pink bracelet.

Last night I went to Jarrell to accept a check from the volunteer firefighters and as you can see from the picture, I was wearing my Support Crew bracelet!

Thanks so much for all that you do for the women in our area!  The shirts rock and so do you!

Thank You,
Yvonne Carroll

Cherie Mathews:  Kicking Cancer’s Ass

“I’m trying to kick cancer’s ass,” Cherie Mathews said. Mathews was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2000 at the age of 40 and eventually underwent a double mastectomy, but Mathews doesn’t feel sorry for herself. In fact, she is mad at breast cancer, and she’s fighting back.

Mathews is helping Austin women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer heal comfortably through her specially designed healincomfort shirts. A project that stemmed from a lesson learned the hard way after a painful recovery after surgery. She is also keeping morale high through her annual Support Crew motorcycle rides she organizes with Cowboy Harley.

Breast Cancer patients, survivors raise awareness

By: News 8 Austin Staff

Video report filed by News 8 Austin’s Crestina Chavez.

The Texas Mamma Jamma ride is one day that’s meant to help women battling cancer 365 days a year. It’s a day-long affair of solidarity and survivorship.

But Breast Cancer Awareness efforts are peddling way past this event. They’re revving up for a month full of passion, power and pink.

“So, I’m pretty much trying to just rock ‘n roll cancer off the planet,” Breast Cancer survivor Cherie Mathews said.

From October 11 to 15, News 8 Austin will take a look at breast cancer treatment beyond the IV drips, infusion rooms and hair loss. We’ll show you everything from pet therapy to fitness. We’re giving women the chance to take charge in their battle.
