Heal in comfort & dignity after breast cancer surgery.
About Your healincomfort Shirt:
The healincomfort shirt is available in four sizes:
Small, Medium, Large, XL
Choose your size carefully because the healincomfort shirt is considered medical issue and there are no refunds permitted. This ensures that you will be the first person to put it on.
The need for the healincomfort shirt begins the day the patient is discharged from the hospital. Ordering two healincomfort shirts will allow the patient to remain comfortable while the first shirt is in the wash.
Wash your shirt first before wearing – it only gets softer
The healincomfort shirt come in a light blue or pink.
Roomy size accommodates the patient’s need for privacy, with a fit similar to a men’s regular T-Shirt. I am 127 5’6″ and I wear a small.
The healincomfort Kit is designed to make your recovery from mastectomy or upper-body surgery more comfortable. The healincomfort Kit was developed by breast cancer survivor/thriver Cherie B. Mathews after her own frustrating experience recovering from breast cancer surgery.
Included in all healincomfort Post-Op Recovery Kits:
- A pink or blue healincomfort post op shirt
Helpful for your post op recovery, Dr. visits, radiation, chemo, sleeping and daywear.
- The healincomfort drain pouch.
The healincomfort drain pouch is VERY HELPFUL to manage the drains after you can wear regular clothing.
- Additionally, all kits come with a shower lanyard
Designed to leave your hands free while taking a shower vs pinning them to the shower curtain etc.
- You’ll also receive a copy of “My Shadow Story” To help you prepare for the “first look”.
“I didn’t have the right equipment to go home in, if a sprained elbow gets a sling to heal in why isn’t there helpful equipment to heal in after a mastectomy?”

More words of praise…
“Hey Cherie – the nurses at Seton Williamson were blown away by the healincomfort shirts that mom wore these past couple weeks! They even handed out information to a few other patients. Mom was in for two different surgeries and had her shirts with her both times.”
“Another surgery this Monday, thank goodness I have this incredibly comfortable shirt I bought to recover in. If you know anyone going through upper extremity surgery the healincomfort shirt is a must have.”
“I loved the Heal in Comfort idea! I’m a nurse and I know that these kinds of things make a big difference to making people feel better in that healing time. Well done”
“I got my shirt!!!
I got the shirt and the belt, I’m so excited to have this for my surgery. It’s so pretty and soft and I love “Be Brave and Fight Like a Girl!!’ It makes me actually look forward to wearing it. I will have 4 drains. I will go for a walk and look for my shadow.”
“Cherie sometimes we think oh heck one person can’t make a differrence….you prove us so wrong. The world is a better place because of your passion and compassion. You are an ANGEL!!”
“Cherie, one day, when God decides you’re done being an angel on Earth, as you approach those pearly gates – you my friend, will be greeted with a standing ovation from all of the people you have helped & inspired – just as I am giving you one now!!”
“Your shadow story lifted my spirits today. I am a breast cancer survivor, currently completing 7 more months of Herceptin. I had a unilateral mastectomy in October. I finished my toxic chemotherapy April 15. Right now I am struggling with the identity crisis of missing my old long hair and covering up what I see as a gray-haired, marine style stubble. It is very very hard to look in the mirror every morning. It seems like so very long before my hair will be even long enough to style. I feel impatient. Your shadow story made me realize that I am still me and I can still make a difference in this world. Your work inspires me so much. Thank you. Your Boson Buddy, Koryn”
“I wore my healincomfort shirt that Cherie Mathews send me from www.healincomfort.com. It had pockets for all drains which made it so nice. The nurses at the hospital loved it!! Everyone loved there were no buttons!! 2 hard on meds!”
“Cherie, Thanks so much for your very kind work. Keep tune to PinkWell.org for some more exciting news. God Bless You for all of your good words and thanks for keeping The Lester and Sue Breast Clinic in your hear. Best”
“Oh my gosh, you are truly an angel. Jean gave the healincomfort shirts to doctors, patients, and nurses and they all loved them as I did. You really get tired of pulling something over your head or buttoning and unbuttoning. UNC knows your shirt at their new cancer center for sure. Thanks for all your support. Janet Griffin (Jean’s twin)”
